About
The Beverley Baking Studio
Little Bunny Bakers and The Beverley Baking School are both run by passionate teacher and baker Saskia Copeland. Established in November 2018.
Hi! My name is Saskia and I absolutely adore running Little Bunny Bakers and The Beverley Baking School here at our colourful baking Studio- The Beverley Baking Studio! I have met so many lovely Bakers from teeny 3 year olds with big smiles, sticky paws and mess galore to slightly older grandparents who just love to bake and everyone in between!
What a journey the last 7 years have been!
I’ve been baking myself since I was old enough to hold a wooden spoon and I’ve loved making a mess, learning from my baking mistakes along the way and making delicious bakes to enjoy and share with others too. There’s something magical about a home-made creation- whether it’s for a special occasion like a birthday, Easter or Christmas, or just to enjoy with friends, family or even by yourself!
I passionately believe that with a little patience, guidance and inspiration, anyone can be a baker and it is my honour to guide Bakers from 3 to 103 to build their confidence, skills and creativity in our weekly classes, evening, weekend and holiday workshops and celebration events such as birthday parties!
My goodness it’s been a delicious 13 years of making, baking and decorating! The first 6 of those years, I loved teaching cooking and baking when I was a primary school teacher in Windsor, leading the food technology department with exciting bakes, visitors and themed days. It was while I was doing this my dream was sparked to run my own baking school- a colourful place where Bakers could feel confident to bake their way through cakes, biscuits, pastries, breads and other creations with my guidance, inspiration and patience.
During the Summer of 2018, my family and I moved to the beautiful town of Beverley in East Yorkshire. It was here my 1 year old began baking with her own wooden spoon and I’m proud to say one of her first words was ‘cake’! In November 2018 my dream began and inspired by Tracy Chapman’s words- “if not now, when?”, I launched Little Bunny Bakers. This was 7 years ago now!
My first ever birthday party (of many!) was that December and my classes began in January 2019! With just 8 Bakers, we started our adventure together – beginning with firework cupcakes to celebrate the start of the New Year.
Classes originally ran from the Cricket Club in Beverley and it was such fun picking table cloths and buying the equipment to get started. I’d re-pack and un-pack my boxes for every class, workshop and party, driving along that bumpy road and getting the bunting up each time! My first ever workshops were Easter Workshops and I still remember being so happy that people had chose to come along to Little Bunny Bakers. It was also in the early days that I noticed many of the parents and grandparents saying how much they enjoyed the classes too and how they would love to bake and decorate themselves- an so my adult classes began!
The very first ‘one for the grown ups’ was piping and prossecco, which I ran from my kitchen. Oh how I loved sharing my love of buttercream and piping with others. Their pride when they’d decorated something beautifully was wonderful to see and many, many workshops on, I still love to see this moment- such as our recent Flower Bouquet morning…what skill they showed with their beautiful creations!
It was May 2018 that classes moved to The Burrow, my home. Running from the kitchen, then bunting was up and the colourful decorations created a space for baking that was enjoyed and loved by many. With weekly classes, birthday parties and weekend and holiday workshops in full swing, most weeks 100s of people came through my house to bake with me and it was wonderful… then Covid arrive in March 2020 and we had to adapt… and adapt we did!
Out came our Bake Off Tent- a giant tent in the garden…and out we went, and on we went…but this time baking with the bees, and the rather common sound of the lawn mowers around too! With adult classes running at the same time, I was busier than ever but loving every moment.
I dreamed of having a designated space that could be a place for us to bake and that’s when we stumbled across Molescroft Farm. It was a busy Summer getting ready but once we were in, there was just one week to set up the Studio before my Summer Workshops began- and that was July 2021. We were off and the bakes and creativity was just growing by the minute!
Once settled at The Studio, I felt it was time to give the adult bakers their own brand- and in the Autumn of 2022, The Beverley Baking School was officially launched! It’s been such fun running classes and workshops for adults with so many different themes and bakes! We’ve even had pasta and sushi sessions which have been highly enjoyed too!
The special events over the last 7 years have been one of the highlights for me, especially several years of family picnics that I hosted from the apple orchard at Molescroft Farm, the coffee mornings I’ve run from The Studio, baking at several play groups when I first began (most memorably Toll Gavel in Beverley), Christmas Fairs at Molescroft Primary School and my baking Club too. I’ve lost count of how many parties, classes and workshops I’ve now run, but I have loved ever one of them and am forever grateful to my lovely family for their support all the way in the role of taste testers, washer uppers, pop to the shoppers, and everything else they do. I’m also hugely grateful to my helpers over the years- I couldn’t have done it without you and I am so thankful for their hard work and help.
Fast forward to 2025 and the Studio is a hive of activity! Both businesses run from our lovely Studio at Molescroft Farm in Beverley, we simply have different aprons, slightly different equipment and the same enthusiasm for making, baking and decorating! I love what I do and where I am going and love the people baking their way along this road with me. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this section and for being part of my world here at Little Bunny Bakers and with The Beverley Baking School…I can’t wait to find out what is around the corner and keep baking with you!
Come on, let’s bake!
